Heritage Roll of Honour
Past students of the College who have distinguished themselves in the community and who have been assessed by the committee of the OVA to be worthy of recognition may be inducted into the Heritage Roll of Honour.
The Roll was created in 2006 following a suggestion by OVA committee member Roger Smart.
In recognition of admission to the Roll of Honour, a citation is formally presented to each recipient usually at the OVA Annual Dinner. A photograph of each recipient is displayed in the History Centre of the College.
The committee encourages anyone to nominate or propose a past student of the College for inclusion on the Roll of Honour.
Nominations should detail the achievements of the nominee and their contribution to the community within Australia or overseas. Nominations should be forwarded to the Secretary of the Association.
The committee of management meets to specifically consider all nominations received.
All deliberations of the committee are made in the strictest confidence and the committee considers the merits of each nominee using the following criteria:
- Personal achievements – which may include examples within the academic, sporting, commercial, scientific, religious, industrial or political fields and/or;
- Community involvement – including support for the ideals of the College and/or
- Demonstrated leadership skills
The number of nominations to be inducted each year, including any posthumous awards, are normally limited to a maximum of four inductees.
The Association’s secretary will contact selected inductees inviting each to accept the nomination and attend the next annual dinner for formal induction onto the Heritage Roll of Honour.
