Julian Witek (SVC 1970-77) was featured recently in The Mercury (Sue Bailey July 10).
It recounted the lifetime change that Julian made during the gloom and constraints of the Covid pandemic .During this extended period his gigs as a drummer ceased to exist. The gloom and disruption of the pandemic led him to increase his amount of bushwalking.
In order to share his trekking experiences with his wife, he took photos to show her.
Friends were so impressed with his photographic skill that they encouraged him to produce a calendar incorporating the best of his shots – the calendars sold quickly.
Julian’s photos were published far and wide and he received commendations in several international photographic competitions. He recently had his first photographic exhibition at the Pear Shed at White Beach.
Julian, now resident on the Tasman Peninsula, had retired as Library Officer at Utas and is busy producing reproduction prints to order and sells photocards at local markets. Keep an eye out for him!
