NBL Owner and Executive Chairman Larry Kestelman and the Tasmanian Government announced an agreement for Tasmania to become the 10th NBL team in February 2020.  From that point the search for coaches, players and support staff commenced. The team was to become known as the Tasmania JackJumpers and would enter the national competition in the 2020-21 season.  One of the appointments made was Jorrick Chivers (SVC 1993-1996) to the position of General Manager Operations.

Jorrick has enjoyed a long association with Tasmanian basketball. He was a member of the Hobart Chargers’ 2000 and 2002 championship teams and an assistant coach of the Hobart Huskies in the 2019 NBL1 season.

He has a strong basketball pedigree with his father Mark Chivers (SVC 1964-67) coach of the Chargers from 1997-2007 and a former general manager of the SEABL.

Upon leaving the College, Jorrick studied Accounting and Business Management at University of Tasmania, went on to qualify as a a chartered accountant and then gained a Graduate Certificate in Education Business Leadership through Deakin University.

Prior to taking up the JackJumper appointment, Jorrick had served as the Business Manager at MacKillop College for almost eight years.

It was hard not to miss Jorrick's passion for the Jack Jumpers after their heroic win against Melbourne United to progress to the Grand Final against the Sydney Kings. Jorrick was front and central in post game celebrations - a point not lost on his peers!

A Great High for Jorrick and the Jack Jumpers!
