Jack has had an outstanding summer of athletics – that is until the final of the senior 100m at the National Championships recently. He won his semi-final but sustained a hamstring injury during the final. However, his form was such that he was selected as a member of the 4 x100m relay team for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Prior to the championships he won the Latrobe Gift from scratch and as a result was penalised for the Burnie Gift by being required to start from one metre behind event at the Games scratch!
His runs in the coastal carnival were followed by some great performance at meets around the country including a 10.10sec with an illegal wind assist of +2.1. An appeal is currently underway in an endeavour to get a Jack a run in the individual 100m at the Games.
