Lewis Brickhill (SVC 1956-64) passed away in South Australia on July 2 at the age of 73.

He is survived by his wife of fifty two years, Josephine, and their four children.

On leaving the College, Lew joined his father, Lew Senior,  who had attended the College back in the 1930s at Frank Hammond Freight Logistics.  He later moved to Adelaide with Brambles Transport and then switched to United Freight Forwarding where he worked for over twenty-five years and was part of its senior management. He travelled overseas several times on company business. He resisted the opportunity of further promotion by opting not to move to Sydney.

At the age of fifty Lew retired from the transport industry and managed the Post Office at Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills for ten years.  It was during this time that his love for the environment flourished both at home and beyond. He was a member of Trees for Life for 18 years, a volunteer for Charleston Conservation Park and had a close connection with the Mount Lofty Ranges Natural Resource Management.  He did enormous amount of work on the Brickhill family history.  Lew was a Justice of the Peace and had a close involvement with supporting asylum seekers.  RIP Lew.

The photo of the 1963 SVC premiership Rugby team that follows includes Lew – back row second from right   This was the first win for the College in the competition that had been running for nine years at that stage.
