The following is from The Vineyard a publication of the Faith Lutheran College at Tanunda SA, where Simon was a member of staff. Simon arrived at Faith College in 2015where he was appointed as the e-learning manager. His role was to support staff in the meaningful application of real world technologies in daily classroom teaching. It was a significant role, but one that Simon capably fulfilled.Apart from his work at Faith, Simon was a well-known and respected education authority. He regularly presented at national and international conferences and was seen as a leader within his field. Simon was regularly called upon to write for educational magazines and journals; he produced regular on-line blogs and had a significant on-line presence having over 5000 followers on twitter. Simon used his on-line presence to create positive and meaningful change in classrooms across the globe.Despite Simon’s profile, at Faith he was simply Mr McKenzie – a brilliant educator, someone who loved life and someone who was easy to connect with because of his genuine nature, warmth and humour. Simon loved Faith College and he loved Faith students. He regularly told staff and students that he had never been so happy as he was teaching at Faith.We thank God for Simon, for his gifts and his passion to make a difference.
